About NEET

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 is a single-window, national-level offline entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the mandatory qualifying exam for admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, etc.), and B.Sc. Nursing courses in all government and private institutions across India, including AIIMS and JIPMER.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: Minimum 17 years by December 31, 2026. There is no upper age limit. Educational Qualification: Passed or appearing in Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. Minimum Marks (PCB Aggregate): 50% for General/EWS, 40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL, and 45% for PwD candidates. Nationality: Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign Nationals are eligible.

Exam Pattern

Questions: 180 Compulsory Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Subjects: Physics (45), Chemistry (45), and Biology (90 - Botany & Zoology). Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes). Marking Scheme: +4 marks for each correct answer, -1 mark for each incorrect answer, and 0 for unattempted questions. Total Marks: 720.

Syllabus

Covers the complete Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT curriculum: Physics: Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Modern Physics, and Electronic Devices. Chemistry: Physical Chemistry (Thermodynamics, Equilibrium), Inorganic Chemistry (Periodic Table, Coordination Compounds), and Organic Chemistry (Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules). Biology: Diversity in Living World, Cell Structure, Human & Plant Physiology, Genetics & Evolution, Biotechnology, and Ecology.

How to Apply

Based on the current official patterns and projections for NEET UG 2026, here is the step-by-step application process. The entire process is Online and must be completed on the official NTA website. 1. Prerequisites: Documents to Keep Ready Before you begin, scan the following documents. They must be clear and within the specific file size limits. Passport Size Photo: White background, 80% face coverage, ears visible (Size: 10–200 KB, JPG). Postcard Size Photo: (4"x6") Same specifications as the passport photo (Size: 10–200 KB, JPG). Signature: Black ink on white paper (Size: 4–30 KB, JPG). Finger & Thumb Impressions: Both left and right hand fingers/thumbs on white paper (Size: 10–200 KB, JPG). Class 10 Certificate: Proof of date of birth (Size: 50–300 KB, PDF). Category Certificate: (If applicable for SC/ST/OBC/EWS) (Size: 50–300 KB, PDF). PwD Certificate: (If applicable) (Size: 50–300 KB, PDF). Valid ID Proof: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport, etc. 2. Step-by-Step Application Process Step 1: Online Registration Visit the official website: https://neet.nta.nic.in/ or https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/. Click on "New Registration". Enter basic details: Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Mobile Number, and Email ID. Create a Password and choose a Security Question. Verify the OTP sent to your mobile/email. Result: You will receive a unique Application Number. Save this securely. Step 2: Fill the Application Form Login using your Application Number and Password. Fill in the following sections: Personal Details: Parent's names, Category (General/OBC/SC/ST), PwD status. Exam Preferences: Question Paper Medium: English, Hindi, or regional languages. Exam Cities: Select 4 preferred cities in order of priority. Academic Details: Marks and school details for Class 10, 11, and 12. Step 3: Upload Documents Upload the scanned images and PDFs prepared in the "Prerequisites" stage. Ensure the "Uploaded Successfully" message appears for each.
